“The best in the world vs. the best in history” – Games of the Weekend 6/28 – 6/30

Spain v Italy: Semi Final - FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013

Spain vs. Brazil – 97 – 6/30, 6:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

Wow. As the New York times put it, this match pitches “Spain, the best team in the world, against Brazil, the best in history, in the Maracanã, unquestionably one of the most evocative soccer stadiums on earth.” While we here at Thuuz might not go that far, we do agree that this game is going to be insane. Two world powerhouses facing off in an amazing location. It doesn’t get much better than this.

Tour De France, Stage 1 – 90 – 6/29, 7:30 a.m. ET, NBC Sports

This is the 100th anniversary of the Tour (give or take a World War or two). With Armstrong asserting that it’s not possible to win without doping, this will be an especially scrutinized year. Can Froome live up to the hype?

Cardinals vs. A’s – 95 –  6/28, 10:05 p.m. ET, local channels

Two division front-runners face off. What’s more, this is a near elite pitching matchup. Bartolo Colon is going for his 11th win, and is 7-0 with a 1.41 ERA over his last seven starts. Miller isn’t the Cards’ ace, but his 2.35 ERA is 7th in the NL, and he’s 8-5 on the season. If he can keep the homers to a minimum, this should be a great game.

FC Dallas vs. Philadelphia Union – 90 – 6/29, 5:30 p.m. ET, NBC Sports

After a huge W over New York, Philly is gunning for sole possession of second place in the Eastern Conference. To snag that spot, they’ll need to get past the always solid FC Dallas, who’s currently second place in the Western Conference. Without Keon Daniel, Danny Cruz, the Union will need their midfield to step up bigtime. This game is deserving of its national audience.

Wimbledon 3rd & 4th Rounds – 86 – 6/29 ESPN

Djokovic. Ferrer. Gasquet. Del Potro. S. Williams. Radwanska. Li. Big names come out at the All England Club this Saturday.

Spain, Italy Battle in Confed Cup Semis — Games of the Day 6/27

Each Day we will give you the top games to look out for – the games that will be most exciting each day.

Spain vs. Italy – 90 – 2:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

4-0. That was the score when these squads last met, and Spain walked away with the Euro Cup Championship. In the Confederations Cup, Spain’s been their typically prolific selves, scoring 15 goals in three games (Torres with five of them). Italy, who are now Balotelli-less, will need to do a lot of work to beat their heated European rival and move onto the Championship.

NBA Draft — 93 – 7:00 p.m. ET, ESPN

Okay, okay, it’s not a sports game. But it is a sports event, and an exciting one at that. This year, there’s no consensus #1 overall pick. Will it be Noel? Or Len? Or even Porter? In fact, there’s barely any consensus for how the first round will play out. Tune in and see the next generation of NBA stars divided up.

Williams vs. Garcia — 75 — 4:00 a.m. ET, ESPN 2

Serena talked trash about Sharapova… who then lost in the second round. Can Serena put her money where her mouth is and do better than Sharapova? In order to do so, she’ll have to get past 19-year-old Caroline Garcia, who sent home 2008 Wimbledon semi-finalist and former world No.15 Zheng Jie.
